This stay-at-home thing has come with two major challenges, roughly coming down to organization and inspiration. Organizing the day, the week, the month. The house, the toys, the closets. And inspiration… what to do for meals, for play, for organization
So. Seeing where this blog goes, following this new kind of day to day life theme, i thought i’d start with a couple of charts i’ve found helpful recently.
First, the inspiration. I think i’ve mentioned that the boys will not let me feed them purees anymore. Or anything from a spoon. They pretty much only want to eat what they can feed themselves. And they’re no good at eating with a spoon. So that leaves us finger foods. I know it sounds ridiculous to say that i need inspiration for that, but i do. They don’t seem to love fresh fruits and veggies, but i tend to try one or two and then give up for a while when they only want a couple of bites. So i’m hoping that having these simple charts from Wholesome Baby Food in my kitchen will remind me to try something new each time we get to the grocery store. Plus, the idea of coating the slippery stuff in “cheerio dust” is BRILLIANT!! It occurred to me that baby cereal should work equally as well as cheerio dust, and i’m feeling rather proud of myself for thinking of it. Good way to use that stuff up since they won’t eat it! Now, the organization. The kitchen. The kitchen is the bane of my existence right now. I loved everything about our house when we found it except the kitchen. Keeping it clean is not going to solve the lighting and layout issues, but i’m hoping that it will help me develop more of a love than a hate relationship with the room, thereby clearing the way for that pesky inspiration issue. Saw this on Apartment Therapy’s The Kitchn a few weeks ago and i think that with spring cleaning season around the corner, it’s a great time to try implementing it. Especially since soon i’ll be much more alone with the boys than i am now (our wonderful fantastic awesome grandma help is up next month)… the upside to the alone thing is that during their naps, i will finally have actual alone time! I figure i can find 20 minutes during that time to fit in a kitchen wipe.

And that’s all for today. The 20 minutes i would’ve used for the kitchen has just been spent writing this post

I really need that kitchen cleaning plan, and I was only mildly daunted when it said they presume I’m already doing dishes and sweeping and surfaces every day
Seriously, though, I’m going to give this a try! Thanks for posting it
